Ontario Issues Hundreds of Provincial Nomination Invitations


On August 28, 2025, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held five targeted draws, issuing a total of 468 invitations to apply (ITAs) under the Employer Job Offer streams. The draws focused on candidates with job offers in Northern Ontario and those eligible under the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot.

All candidates considered had Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles created between July 2 and August 28, 2025.

1. Northern Ontario Draws

Ontario issued 330 ITAs to candidates with job offers in Northern Ontario, under the following streams:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Job offer located in Northern Ontario.
  • Candidate must be currently residing in Canada.
  • Must meet the required score threshold and have a job offer in an eligible NOC occupation.

Northern Ontario includes: Muskoka, Haliburton, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Manitoulin, Sudbury, Greater Sudbury, Timiskaming, Cochrane, Algoma, Thunder Bay, Rainy River, and Kenora.

Targeted Occupations:
The draw targeted a broad range of occupations across sectors such as:

  • Administration, finance, HR, IT, engineering
  • Healthcare (e.g., nurses, physicians, physiotherapists)
  • Skilled trades (e.g., electricians, mechanics, carpenters)
  • Education and social services
    (Full list of eligible NOC codes available upon request)

2. REDI Pilot Draws

A total of 138 invitations were issued under the REDI pilot, which supports regional economic development in select communities: Lambton, Lanark, and Leeds and Grenville.

Key Points:

  • Candidates must have a job offer in one of the REDI communities.
  • REDI is a one-year initiative, running until December 31, 2025.
  • Eligible NOC codes differ by stream.

In-Demand Skills Stream – Eligible Occupations:
Examples include:

  • Home support workers (NOC 44101)
  • Material handlers (NOC 75101)
  • Construction laborers (NOC 75110)
  • Machine operators (e.g., food, metal, plastic processing)

Foreign Worker & International Student Streams – Targeted Occupations:
Includes:

  • Administrative roles (e.g., administrative assistants, payroll, bookkeepers)
  • IT professionals (e.g., software engineers, web developers)
  • Healthcare workers (e.g., nurses, veterinary staff, pharmacy techs)
  • Skilled trades (e.g., carpenters, machinists, automotive technicians)

3. New Employer-Led EOI System

Since July 2, 2025, Ontario has transitioned to a new employer-led EOI system for the Employer Job Offer streams. Key changes include:

  • Employers must submit the job offer through the OINP Employer Portal.
  • Only candidates with an employer-submitted EOI are eligible for selection.
  • Candidates who submitted an EOI before July 2 must coordinate with their employer to reinitiate their application through the new system.
